
The Newton Lady Eagles basketball program wrapped up its season by recognizing the hard work, leadership, and achievements of its players during the annual team awards presentation.
Leading the way in conference honors, Alani Bergbower earned First Team All-Conference recognition after a standout season on both ends of the court. Bergbower also paced the Lady Eagles in assists, showcasing her ability to lead the offense and create opportunities for her teammates.
Allie Hermann was named Second Team All-Conference and proved to be one of Newton’s most reliable scorers throughout the season. Hermann led the team in points and free throw percentage, highlighting her consistency and composure under pressure.
Earning Honorable Mention All-Conference honors was Izzy Meinhart, who also received the team’s prestigious Eagle Award, recognizing her leadership, effort, and commitment to the program.
In varsity team awards, Claire Probst dominated the glass to earn Top Rebounder honors, while Grace Schumacher was recognized as the team’s Steals Leader, showcasing her defensive tenacity and ability to create turnovers.
At the junior varsity level, Brooke Gentry was named JV Most Valuable Player for her strong contributions throughout the season, while Ava Earnest received the JV Eagle Award, reflecting her dedication, attitude, and team-first mentality.
The Lady Eagles’ awards night not only celebrated individual accomplishments but also highlighted the collective effort and growth of the program. With a strong mix of leadership and emerging talent, the future remains bright for Newton girls basketball.
