Lady Eagles Freshman-Sophomore Squad Captures Championship at Teutopolis Tournament

Teutopolis — The Newton Lady Eagles freshman-sophomore volleyball team delivered an impressive performance on Saturday, sweeping through the competition to claim the championship title at the Teutopolis Tournament.

The Eagles dominated pool play, opening with a strong 25-17, 25-17 victory over Effingham, followed by a 25-14, 25-22 win against Patoka. In bracket play, Newton continued their momentum with a decisive 25-12, 25-23 semifinal win over Dieterich, then finished the day by defeating Effingham once again — this time in the championship match, 25-19, 25-18.

Head Coach Jill Kistner’s young Eagles displayed balance across the board, showcasing aggressive serving, consistent setting, and sharp defense throughout the tournament.
