Lady Eagles Season Ends at Regional Championship

The Newton Lady Eagles ended their softball season in the regional championship game against Flora when rain caused the game to be concluded at five innings.

The game was tied at one with Flora batting in the top of the fifth when Flora scored one run on a stolen base.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Flora pitchers struck out eight, while Newton Varsity Lady Eagles sat down three.

Flora opened up scoring in the first inning, when H Kitley singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Newton Varsity Lady Eagles tied things up at one. An error scored one run for Newton Varsity Lady Eagles.

Kitley was credited with the victory for Flora. The pitcher went five innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out eight and walking zero.

Kayla Kocher was in the pitcher’s circle for Newton Varsity Lady Eagles. Kocher went five innings, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out three and walking one.

Newton Varsity Lady Eagles saw the ball well today, racking up four hits in the game. Avery Mulvey and Lilly Kessler all managed multiple hits for Newton Varsity Lady Eagles. Kessler and Mulvey each managed two hits to lead Newton Varsity Lady Eagles.
