The Newton Lady Eagles smoked past the Cowden Herrick Beecher City Bobcats on Thursday, March 17th with a final score of 13-0. The Eagles opened up the scoring in the bottom of the first when Addison O’Dell scored on a wild pitch, Macy Barthelemy scores on a sacrifice fly by Emma Kidwell, and Amber Russell scores on a single fly ball by Camryn Martin bringing the score to 3-0. In the second inning, Ava Kessler and Morgan White scored when the second basemen erred. Amber Russell hits a single on a line drive to left bringing in Sally Mahaffey and Addison O’Dell. Macy Barthelemy and Amber Russell score on Kidwell’s single to center. Bailey Frichtl scores on a pass ball. Avery Mulvey scores on a different pass ball, and Ava Kessler scores on a dropped third strike. The Eagles score one last time in the bottom of the third when Amber Russell singles on a bunt to the catcher, she then advances to second, third and then scores on the throw.
Kayla N Kocher got the win for the Eagles in two innings allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out six and walking zero. Kidwell and Amelia Collins each pitched during the game as well.
