Lady Eagles Split the Week, Topping Marshall After Tough Loss to Mt. Carmel
The Newton Lady Eagles volleyball program had a busy week, taking on Mt. Carmel on Monday and Marshall on Wednesday. The teams earned wins at both the freshman and JV levels against Mt. Carmel before the varsity team bounced back with a strong road victory over Marshall to close out the week.
On Monday, the freshman Lady Eagles fought back after dropping the first set to defeat Mt. Carmel 21-25, 25-9. The JV squad continued Newton’s success with a 25-18, 25-10 win. The varsity team battled through three sets but fell short, 23-25, 25-17, 11-25, moving their record to 14-11.

The Lady Eagles rebounded Wednesday night at Marshall, where both the JV and varsity teams secured victories. The JV won 29-27, 25-18, while the varsity squad battled back after dropping the opening set to win 20-25, 25-18, 25-19 — improving to 15-11 on the season.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Monday, October 13, when they travel to Teutopolis. The freshman team begins play at 5:00 p.m., followed by JV at 6:00 and varsity at 7:00.
