The Newton Lady Eagles celebrated their seniors and foreign exchange students at the home game against Cumberland.
Newton Varsity Lady Eagles defeated Cumberland 10-2 thanks to a strong start. Newton Varsity Lady Eagles scored on a single by Allie Stanley in the first inning, a error in the first inning, and a single by Lexie Grove in the first inning.
Avery Mulvey led the Newton Varsity Lady Eagles to victory in the circle. The righthander surrendered two runs on five hits over three innings, striking out one and walking one. Amelia Collins threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Callie Lewis led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Cumberland. The pitcher went one-third of an inning, allowing four runs on three hits. Isabel Martinez threw five and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Ali Kirts went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Newton Varsity Lady Eagles in hits.
Avery Donsbach led Cumberland with three hits in three at bats.
