Lee Roy Hemrich, age 75

July 22, 1946 – November 23, 2021

Lee Hemrich, age 75, of rural Newton, Illinois, passed away at 11:30 AM – Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at his home.

Funeral services celebrating Lee’s life will be held at 10:00 AM – Monday, November 29, 2021, at the
Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Burial will be in the Honey Cemetery in Bogota, Illinois, with
full military rites. Visitation will be held 4:00 – 6:00 PM – Sunday, November 28, 2021, at the funeral
home. In loving memory of Lee, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Support

Lee was born on July 22, 1946, in Olney, Illinois, the son of Carl. E. and LaVerne (Robinson)
Hemrich. He married Loretta Kay Bales on August 12, 1967, at the South Muddy Church, north of

Ingraham, Illinois. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2018.

Lee was inducted in to the United States Army on February 10, 1966, and served in the Vietnam War.

He was honorably discharge on February 9, 1968.

Lee worked at Roadmaster in Olney, for many years as a tool and die maker, and retired from North

American Lighting in Salem.

Lee was a lifetime member of the Post #7537 VFW, where he had served as past Commander and

Quarter Master. He was also a member of the Abate chapter 27 in Mt. Vernon.
Lee enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family and friends.

Lee is survived by:

Children – Lora (Michael) McKinney of Evansville, Indiana; Chris (Mira) Hemrich of Alma, Illinois; and

Jackson Hemrich of Newton, Illinois

Grandchildren – Jessica (Chris) Lynn, Wade McKinney, Christine McKinney, Amanda (John) Meny,
Shelby (Mark) Juds, Shasta Hemrich (fiancé Stephen Turner), Shania Hemrich, Jaleena Hemrich,

Daniel Hemrich, Avery Hinterscher and Jyles Hemrich
13 Great Grandchildren and one due in April
Brother – Tommy (Jenny) Hemrich of Clay City, Illinois
Sister – Norma (John) Weidner of Wendelin, Illinois

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, wife, granddaughter Sheila Hemrich and brothers Danny

and Charles Hemrich.
