Lindell Galloway age 66 of Flora formerly of Newton, Illinois passed away Monday,
February 08, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services celebrating Lindell’s life will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, February 11,
2021 at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Rev. Carroll Ross officiating. Visitation will
be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home. Burial will be in the
Honey Cemetery, Bogota, Illinois.
Lindell was born on March 16, 1954, in Effingham, Illinois the son of Lloyd William and
Helen Faye (Gosnell) Galloway. On May 29, 1976, Lindell married his high school
sweetheart, Joan M. Wagner. She survives. A graduate of Newton Community High School,
Lindell continued his education at Bailey Technology Institute of St. Louis where he earned
his degree in auto mechanics. Lindell was an auto mechanic for Dan Hecht Chevrolet-
Toyota for forty-four years until his retirement.
In his free time, Lindell enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, dirt track racing and
NASCAR. He especially liked watching his two favorite drivers, Dale Earnhardt Senior and
Junior. Lindell had a great love of being outdoors. He liked to hunt, fish, and garden. His
family described him as an avid mushroom hunter with the ability to find the smallest
mushroom in the patch. Favorite times of late have been the family camping trips and
following the many activities of the grandchildren.
Lindell will be loved and remembered by his wife Joan M. Galloway of Flora, son Matt
Galloway of Charleston and daughter Emily (Justin) Landreth of Flora; grandchildren
Brendan, Beckett, and Alexa; sisters Cathy (Kenny) Shew of Newton and Cheryl (Greg)
Ginder of Olney and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, brother David Galloway and father-in-law and mother-in-law Gene and Mary
Wagner preceded him in death.
Memorial gifts in honor of Lindell may be made to the Clay County Hospice or to the Clay
County Cancer Crusaders.
