Loretta M. McGlothlin age 88, of Newton

Loretta M. McGlothlin age 88, of Newton passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Deaconess Midtown in Evansville, Indiana.

Funeral services celebrating Loretta’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Pastor Tom Matson officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 15, 2024, in the funeral home and from 10:00 a.m., Monday until time of service.  Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Newton, Illinois.

Loretta was born on June 8, 1936, in Jasper County, Illinois the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Gibson) Boldrey.  Loretta married Roy Jack Brown and to this union four daughters were born Karen, Kathryn, Pauline and Carolyn.  She later married Delton R. McGlothlin in February of 1973.  He preceded her in death on January 18, 1989.

In her early years, Loretta worked at the Kralis Poultry Factory in Olney. Following her time there, she began cooking at Chub and Sylva’s Home Café and later at Burgin Manor.  She had several special dishes, with her hot rolls being a family favorite.

In her spare time, Loretta enjoyed listening to country and gospel music and watching television.  Some of her favorite programs were Duke’s of Hazard, Hee Haw, and the Andy Griffith Show. She enjoyed making Indian bead necklaces. She loved to drink Mt. Dew and her family made sure she was always well stocked.   She loved her kids and many grandkids.  Her home was full of family photos of the one most precious to her.

Loretta will be loved and remembered by her daughters Karen Bensken, husband Lenny of Newton and Pauline Witte of Snyder, TX; eight grandchildren Maggie Fuesting, husband Lester of Ste. Marie Eric Bensken, wife Alissa of Newton, Angel Slane of Kentucky, Scotty Bensken, wife Melissa of Effingham, Jeremiah Witte, wife Kayla of Colorado City, TX, Danny Morgan of Olney Jordan McKee, wife Ashley of Albion and Schyler Morgan of Olney; several great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; siblings Blanche Crites, husband Lloyd of Claremont, Robert “Bob” Boldrey, wife Cathy of Olney and Steve Boldrey of Willow Hill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Delton, daughters Kathryn Woodard and Carolyn McKee, son-in-law Leonard Witte, granddaughter Bobbi Witte, sister Joann Wilson, sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Ted Jones and special friend Robert Miller.
