Marching Eagles Soar to Grand Champion Honors at Oblong Competition

The Newton High School Marching Eagles closed out their competitive marching season in spectacular fashion, bringing home multiple top honors and earning Grand Champion titles in both field competition and parade at the Oblong competition.

The Marching Eagles competed in Class 4A, where they turned in an outstanding performance, earning the following awards:

Field Competition – Class 4A

  • Best Auxiliary
  • Best Drum Major
  • Best Percussion
  • 1st Place in Class 4A
  • Grand Champions

The band continued its success in the parade competition, once again demonstrating the talent, dedication and hard work that have defined their season.

Parade Competition – Class 4A

  • Best Auxiliary
  • 1st Place in Class 4A
  • Grand Champions

The impressive results cap off a memorable competitive season for the Marching Eagles. Earlier this fall, Newton earned fifth place in its class and seventh overall at the University of Illinois competition, competing in Class 2A against larger schools. The band continued to build on that success throughout the season.

From the pregame and halftime performances to the competitive field and parade shows, these students have represented Newton High School and the community with pride.

Congratulations to the Marching Eagles, their directors, staff, drum majors, auxiliary members and everyone who works behind the scenes to make this program successful.

What a way to finish the season! Newton should be proud!
