Marlene Louise Dougherty, age 83, of Apple Valley, California passed away April 6, 2020, at
Valley Crest Care Center, Apple Valley, CA.
Memorial services celebrating Marlene’s life will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, July 26 ,
2021, at Falmouth Christian Chapel with Roger Songer officiating. Visitation will be from
9:00 a.m. until time of service Monday July 26 th in the church. Burial will follow in the
Chapel Cemetery, Falmouth, Illinois. Crain Funeral Home, Newton is assisting the family
with arrangements.
Marlene was born on September 19, 1936 in Freeport, Illinois the daughter of Louis M. and
Kathleen Elizabeth (Campbell) Vangen. On August 18, 1979, Marlene married Bill
Dougherty. In addition to being a wife and mother, Marlene worked as a grocery checker
and later as a teacher’s aide. She was a member of the Victor Valley Christian Church. In
her free time, Marlene was an avid crafter and gardener.
She will be loved and remembered by her husband Bill Dougherty of Apple Valley, CA;
children Lynn (Jim) Cashman of Mooresville, NC; Denice Haney of Brookfield, WI; Tim
(Karen) Dougherty of Franklin, WI; Paula Dougherty of Apple Valley, CA; nine
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Her parents and brother Norman Vangen preceded her in death.
