Mayor Mark Bolander Honored At JEDI Annual Celebration

The 2020 Jasper County Economic Development Annual Celebration was held on Wednesday, February 5th. During the event, catered by Hartrich’s Meats,Mark Bolander, Rex Vault Service was presented a plaque by the Jasper County Economic Development Incorporation for outstanding support and activity in economic development in Jasper County.
Mark’s son, Lucas, presented the award and gave a history of Rex Vault Services from its inception to current standings. Mark is the husband, Karen Bolander and father of Micah (Nick) Joggerst, Mallory Bolander and Lucas and Leah Bolander.
Mark spoke by saying thank you. He spoke about trying to surround himself with good people, equip them with what they need and then get out of the way and let them do what they do.
Following the meal, Andy Johnson took the podium as the speaker. As the Superintendent of Schools, Andy spoke about various aspects of the school utilizing the Superintendent’s Report provided to the public via our website in January which can be found here.

Updates:

City: Thanked the correspondent, Herb, for an article about the sand darter. Renovations are being done on the City Hall building. It will be completed in phases. The first phase will be the police department which will move to the other side of the building. There will also be a better or more efficient dispatch area since they are the county backup. The second phase will be determine the best location for the clerk and collector office to find the best, safest location for this. Once that is decided then the treasurer’s area will be determined. The conference room and offices will possibly be in the center of the building. The roof needs some inspection and possible work as well. The majority of the work will be inside, however, structural work may need done as well.

County: Ron congratulated Mark and talked about how great it is to have him as Mayor. Sheriff department’s project is moving along.

Sarah: Jasper Together is starting. March 16th is the Chamber Annual Banquet, the Island Grove Men’s Choir will be performing. Lindsey Vogt is working on an Agricultural and Vocational Job and Career Fair being held on March 12th. There will be union representation, local people and other areas of employment.
