Michelle Nelson-Schmidt Visits Area September 16-20

VISITING AUTHOR ENCOURAGES CHILDREN TO FOLLOW THEIR DREAMS
Usborne Books & More is pleased to bring Michelle Nelson-Schmidt to visit thousands of children in this area the week of Sept. 16-20. She will be visiting children in Casey, Clay City, Greenup, Toledo, Newton, Olney, and Toledo. To enjoy her presentation, the following dates and times are open to the public:
Monday, Sept. 16: 6:30 p.m. YMCA Toledo and Thursday, Sept. 19: 6:00 p.m. Olney Library
Ms. Nelson-Schmidt took the kind of chance her book Jonathan James and the Whatif Monster encourages when she headed to art school despite opposition from her family who advocated a more conventional career. Now, after working for years as a graphic designer, Michelle is not only an accomplished book author/illustrator of six picture books, but is also very much in demand as a presenter at schools, libraries, day care centers, and festivals. She’s thrilled to be able to share her work and her message with children around the country. The many letters she receives from child fans who’ve made a “pinky promise” with her to follow their dreams are a testament to her success in inspiring them. Michelle’s made hundreds of such visits and already has a fully-booked schedule for the school year.
Ms. Nelson-Schmidt’s first two books for Kane Miller Books grew out of her pet portraiture. Cats, Cats! and Dog, Dogs! quickly become best-sellers for Usborne Books & More. Jonathan James and the Whatif Monster has proven to be an even greater success! Ms.Nelson-Schmidt has gone on to write Bob is a Unicorn, Dog and Mouse, and Cordelia, Whatif I Know My Feelings, Whatif I Know My Opposites Adorable plush toys of some of the characters-WhatIf monster and Cordelia are also available.
