Mount Carmel Pulls Away From Newton Eagles, 43-14

The Newton Eagles fell to Mount Carmel 43-14 on Friday, September 11, as the Golden Aces built an early lead and held off a second-half push from Newton.

Mount Carmel led 29-0 at halftime before Newton got on the scoreboard in the third quarter. The Eagles added another touchdown in the fourth quarter, but Mount Carmel answered with seven points in the final period to secure the 43-14 victory.

Mount Carmel finished the night with 419 yards of total offense, including 236 rushing yards and 183 passing yards. The Golden Aces completed 10 of 16 passes for 183 yards, with River Deisher accounting for 165 passing yards and eight completions on 13 attempts.

On the ground, Mount Carmel was led by Sitaleki Militoni, who rushed 13 times for 75 yards. Deisher added 145 rushing yards on 14 carries, while Paul-Ray Garrett contributed 24 yards on four attempts. As a team, Mount Carmel averaged 6.56 yards per rushing attempt.

Deisher was also Mount Carmel’s leading receiver, catching five passes for 133 yards. Shain Meador added five receptions for 133 yards, while Zeke Meier caught one pass for 15 yards and Aran Guanipa had one reception for 12 yards.

Newton finished with 177 yards of total offense. The Eagles produced 112 net rushing yards and 65 passing yards. Hayden Mulvey completed seven of 17 passes for 65 yards, while also leading Newton on the ground with 70 rushing yards on 11 carries.
Maddox Horner rushed seven times for 18 yards, while Quincy Fulton carried five times for 24 yards. Fulton also caught two passes for 26 yards, and Horner recorded five receptions for 39 yards.

Newton’s defense recorded 53 total tackles. Maddox Horner led the Eagles with nine total tackles, while Henry Will and Harrison Kinkade each recorded five. Parker Harris also finished with five tackles.

Newton’s special teams were led by Henry Will, who punted five times for 195 yards, averaging 39 yards per punt. Will also handled the Eagles’ kickoffs, recording three for 111 yards, and converted both of Newton’s recorded PAT attempts.
