Nancy Maxwell age 55, of Willow Hill, Illinois passed away Monday, August 27, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital, Evansville, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating Nancy’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton, Illinois with Pastor Rick Britton officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service on Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hunt Cemetery, rural Rose Hill, Illinois.
Nancy was born on December 30, 1968, in Mattoon, Illinois the daughter of Robert C. and Peggy Mae (Weck) Lewis. Nancy married Timothy A. Maxwell on October 6, 2001. He preceded her in death on June 7, 2022.
When her boys were young, Nancy attended cosmetology school, operating her own shop for many years. She worked as a seamstress at E.R. Moore for several years, before returning to college to complete her studies for phlebotomy. Nancy worked as a phlebotomist in the lab at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson.
In her free time, Nancy had many hobbies. She enjoyed spending time outdoors; riding 4-wheelers, camping, swimming in her pool and working in her flower beds with Tim. Nancy was very artistic, enjoying drawing, sewing and diamond art. She enjoyed the holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas. Each year, she would sew costumes for the boys for Trick-or-Treat. One year, when health prevented a large Christmas gathering, Nancy and the family celebrated Christmas in July complete with a lighted palm tree. She also enjoyed organizing and helping with benefits for people in the community through the V.F.W.
Nancy will be loved and remembered by her mother; Peggy Lewis of Robinson; sons; Chris (Whitney) Edwards of Toledo, Matthew (Raeonna) Edwards of Greenup and Nathan (Brandi McKinsey) Edwards of Liberty Hill; step-children; Tyler (Chelsae) Maxwell of Woodbury, TN and Brittany (Alexis) Scott of Oblong; grandchildren Audrey Edwards, Brooklyn Edwards, Drake Edwards, Maverick Edwards, Kaelin Edwards, Raegann Finn, Carson Edwards, Madi Finn, Paisley Edwards, Elladora Edwards, Maddox Smock and Stephanie Hayes; step-grandchildren; Olivia Maxwell and Travis Maxwell, Donothan Headlee, Luke Headlee and Skylar Scott; siblings, Ronnie Lewis of Colorado; Connie (Kevin) Tracy of Newton, Bob (Shelia) Lewis of Robinson and Sherry Lewis of Newton.
Her father, Robert Lewis, husband Tim Maxwell and step-grandchild D.J. Headlee preceded her in death.
