The Newton Community High School Class of 1975 will host a Memorial Tree and Marker Dedication ceremony at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8 on the school grounds, near the northeast corner of the main building.
An October Glory maple tree, known for its brilliant orange foliage each fall, stands above the commemorative marker, a soaring eagle etched in black granite, bearing the words “Gone but Not Forgotten.” Together, the tree and marker embody both the strength and spirit of those honored there.
Speakers will guide attendees in remembrance, share the inspiration behind the project, and explain the significance of the selected tree and marker design. Principal Beth Probst will also offer remarks.
Members of the Class of 1975 are encouraged to attend. The event is open to the public. Parking will be available along West End Street or in visitor parking behind the school building.
