The Newton girls tennis team turned in a dominant performance on Thursday, sweeping Fairfield 9-0 in a strong all-around effort.
In singles play, the Eagles took control early and never looked back. Jailyn Hall set the tone at the top spot with a 10-5 win over Wren Braddock, while teammate Olivia Sornberger cruised to a 10-0 victory at No. 2. Emma Walker and Lauren Gier both battled through close matches, each winning 10-7 to keep Newton’s momentum rolling. Jenna Hall delivered a 10-3 win at No. 5, and Scarlett Collins closed out the singles sweep with a flawless 10-0 showing.
The Eagles carried their energy into doubles, where they sealed the shutout. The top duo of Jailyn Hall and Sornberger outlasted Fairfield’s Braddock and Foster in a tight 8-7 contest. Izzy Probst and Beth Brocious followed with an 8-5 win at No. 2, and Jenna Hall teamed up with Collins to secure an 8-2 victory at No. 3.
With the sweep, Newton showcased depth across its lineup and the ability to win both tight battles and decisive matches.
