The Newton Marching Eagles kicked off their competition season with an impressive showing at the Sage City Invitational Monticello Marching Band Festival, performing their 2025 field show, Pipe Dreams.
Competing against 16 schools across five classes, the Eagles earned Outstanding Percussion honors and secured 2nd place in Class 2A. The band also placed 5th overall in both colorguard and total band performance and finished third in percussion for the day—a strong accomplishment given the size of the field.
Despite being one of the smallest schools in attendance—the third smallest overall—Newton proved they could hold their own against much larger programs.
“We’re happy with the results for our first competition,” Brian Ridlen shared. “We hope to see everyone at Robinson this Saturday, with the Marching Eagles performance being at 3:30 pm.
The Marching Eagles will continue to build momentum as they prepare for the rest of their competition season.
