On September 24, the Newton Rotary Club heard from Kim Holsapple (left) of TGM (Total Grain Marketing). He described their network of 40 grain elevators and how corn, wheat and beans are stored and transported, primarily by truck and rail, but not by barge. They handle a lot of corn, about 20 million bushels from Jasper County, which is made into products like chicken feed and ethanol. Soy beans are used to make meal and oil. Chairperson for the day was Rotarian Dan Bixler (right).
