Peoples State Bank (PSB), a thriving, community-focused institution founded in 1875 with eight
locations in Illinois, is expanding our team! We are looking for a qualified, customer-driven
Business Development Specialist to lead our branch operations and drive strategic growth.
Job Title: Business Development/ Deposit Specialist
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer and CEO
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Salary: $50,000-$65,000 based on prior banking, sales and cash management experience
This position is responsible for leading sales, service, and community outreach initiatives across all
Peoples State Bank branch locations, with home base located in Newton. In collaboration with the Bank
President and senior management, the role builds and executes a strategic plan to drive growth
objectives, including expanding the customer base and increase deposits.
The ideal candidate will take a proactive approach to customer relationships, demonstrating a genuine
interest in understanding customers’ financial priorities and providing tailored solutions. A strong team-
oriented mindset, excellent customer service, and broad knowledge of business banking products and
services are essential.
Strategic Leadership:
Collaborate with branch managers to ensure alignment with strategic sales, service, and
community outreach goals.
Work with senior management to develop and implement strategies to increase branch
production and achieve business development targets.
Monitor and assess branch performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and growth
opportunities with a primary focus on increasing deposits.
Business Banking and Customer Relations:
Serve as a relationship manager for business customers, delivering exceptional customer service
and tailored financial solutions.
Actively engage in new business development and relationship deepening through outreach,
referrals, and consultations.
Coordinate and respond to business inquiries in collaboration with the PSB team.
Deliver a seamless, professional experience in all customer interactions, ensuring efficient issue
resolution and follow-up.
Manage business deposit accounts and commercial banking services, including onboarding and
ongoing support.
Provide expertise in cash management services such as Business Online Banking, Remote
Deposit Capture (RDC), and wire transfers.
Customer Service and Cash Management Support:
Recommend and deliver relevant cash management products to current and prospective
business clients.
Provide seamless onboarding, documentation reviews, and technical support for cash
management solutions.
Conduct on-site client visits to assist with equipment installation, software setup, training, and
troubleshooting as needed.
Assist internal teams with inquiries, technical guidance, and ongoing support for cash
management products.
Community Outreach and Relationship Building:
Build and maintain strong relationships with business customers, promoting Peoples State
Bank’s services and commitment to the community.
Represent Peoples State Bank at community and business events to enhance outreach and
foster business development opportunities.
Additional Responsibilities:
Uphold strict confidentiality of customer information and proprietary bank data.
Support special projects and perform additional tasks as assigned with professionalism and
independence.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
5+ years of experience in banking leadership, branch operations, or business development.
Comprehensive knowledge of cash management services, business banking products, and
branch operations.
Proven leadership, team-building, and mentoring capabilities.
Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant banking systems.
Additional Requirements:
Local travel to branch and client locations as needed.
