Porkburgers for Cancer Support During Jeep Run

Third Annual Porkburger and Brat Sale During Jeep Run
Jasper County Cancer Support, Inc. partners with Ambraw River Eagles for fundraiser

Newton, Ill. (July 11, 2019) – Jasper County Cancer Support, Inc. is planning its third annual
Porkburger and Brat fundraiser in downtown Newton on Saturday, July 27. The Ambraw River
Eagles will man the grill, while volunteers and Board Members from JCCS sell porkburgers,
brats and baked goods from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.
The porkburger and brat sale is one of many fundraisers that Jasper County Cancer
Support, Inc. organizes each year. The lunchtime fundraiser coincides with the Jasper County
Chamber of Commerce Jeep and Bike Run. While the courthouse square may be busier than
usual on July 27, anyone ready to support JCCS by grabbing lunch can walk or drive up to the
Ambraw River Eagles location on the east side of the square.
As a non-profit group, JCCS relies on fundraisers, sponsorships and donations as its
sole source of income. The proceeds from each fundraiser are then returned to Jasper County
residents who are undergoing cancer treatment. Assistance is given in the form of fuel or
grocery gift cards to Jasper County residents who are receiving chemotherapy, radiation or
recurring follow-up treatments on a monthly basis. In 2018, $21,000.00 was distributed to
cancer patients in the form of gift cards from Casey’s General Store, Marathon One Stop
Shoppe, Martin’s IGA of Newton and Circle K.
Jasper County Cancer Support, Inc. began in 2012 with the specific purpose of helping
individuals in our community who are fighting cancer. This group is unique, in that all of the
funds stay within Jasper County. While the organization understands that cancer survivors have
follow-up appointments with their oncologists and medical teams, the JCCS mission is to
provide support to those who are currently undergoing active treatment.
Cancer patients and survivors are encouraged to attend monthly Jasper County Cancer
Support meetings the second Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. at the Jasper County Health
Department. Anyone interested in participating on the Board of Directors is welcome to attend
Board meetings on the second Thursday of the month at 4:30 p.m. at Dr. Jeanine Fell’s Office
located at 605 S. Van Buren St. in Newton.
