Reminder To Businesses in Jasper County

On July 1st the sales tax in Jasper County will increase by one percent as the one percent school tax takes effect after being voted in during the November 2018 election. Businesses will need to begin collecting this tax in addition to the sales tax already being collected.
Superintendent Andrew Johnson would like to share this message with the business owners and the community:

“I would like to express my appreciation to the residents and businesses in Jasper County. Though I know the topic of taxes is not a popular one, I do thank you very much for supporting the referendum vote back in November of 2018. The tax will be collected by the State of Illinois on July 1, 2019.
Our school district should begin seeing revenue sometime in late October. I am sure as businesses you have much leg work to prepare for this change, and I again thank you for your presence in this community. I also hope and pray our residents take a hard look at purchasing local when the opportunity presents itself. I know the entire process has opened my eyes to how Blessed we are in Jasper County to have supportive residents and businesses. I am very fortunate each and every day to work with students who are the future of our county. The future is bright for this county if we can retain these bright young people. I desire to be a part of that success for these students and I feel this new tax will absolutely help the district to provide more for our students – they deserve our best!!

Once again – thank you very much for your continued support for this amazing school district. If we can ever be of assistance to you or your business, please feel free to reach out to us. As I have stated before, ‘It Takes A Village to Raise a Child and Jasper County is a GREAT VILLAGE for the FUTURE of OUR CHILDREN!!’”
