Robert G. Grove, 91, of Newton, Illinois

Robert G. Grove, 91, of Newton, Illinois, passed away on Thursday May 18, 2023,
at the Villa of Holly Brook, in Newton.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday May 26 th , 2023, at the Grace
United Methodist Church in Newton. There will be a one-hour visitation starting at
10:00 to 11:00 am on May 26, 2023, also at the Grace United Methodist Church. The
burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, in Newton, IL at a later date. The Barkley
Funeral Chapel in Greenup is assisting the family.
Robert was born on August 13, 1931, in Newton, IL, the son of Dewey and
Bernice (Woods) Grove. He married Melba Lewis on September 10, 1949. She preceded
in him 2016. Survivors include daughters Cindy Reynolds, and Sara (Jeff) Tarr; daughter-
in-law Diane Grove, sister Ruth Alice Gibson; 10 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren;
22 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by
his parents; wife Melba; two sons Ronald Grove and Stephen Grove; two daughters
Becky McCrary and Linda Briggs; two sisters Betty Trimble and Maryetta Grove; three
brothers Dewey Grove Jr., Floyd Grove, and Ivan Grove; and one great grandchild.
Robert worked as an ARCLINE Pipeline Welder for 66 years and was a member of
the Union #798. Robert enjoyed fishing.
