Roger Dean Shanks age 74 of Willow Hill passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Willow Manor Nursing Home, Vincennes, Indiana.

Funeral services for Roger will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Brother Al Malo officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 13 in the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Brockville Cemetery, rural Jasper County, Illinois.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the family.

Roger was born on April 8, 1945 in Rockford, Illinois the son of Clone and Ola (Jeffers) Shanks.  On August 27, 1966, Roger married Charlotte G. Pruitt.  She preceded him in death on October 10, 2018.  Roger worked at the Newton Broom Factory for over thirty years.  He was a member of the Salem Baptist Church Oblong, Illinois.  In his free time, Roger enjoyed coloring, playing Nintendo, and listening and writing county gospel music.  He was friendly and outgoing, enjoying time visiting with family and friends.  Roger was a man of great faith, taking every opportunity to share his love for the Lord with others.

Roger will be loved and remembered by his son Dale Shanks of Willow Hill; daughter Debbie (Eric) Jackson of West Union; grandchildren Katy Patrick, Lily Shanks, Ambr Shanks, JosyShanks, Erica Owen and Noble Jackson; great-grandchildren Levi Stoner, Matthew Patrick and  Justice Owen; brother Terry (Donna) Shanks of Hobart, IN and sister Phyllis (Herschel) Garner of Valparaiso, IN; mother-in-law Polly Shelby of Tucson, AZ and many nieces and nephews.

His parents, wife Charlotte, and infant brother Michael Shanks preceded him in death.
