On January 14, the Newton Rotary Club learned about the Jasper Together project, headed up by Jason Warfel (left), who explained that the purpose is to get input to help set up some short- and long-term goals for the community. A “mapping” program was developed by Western Illinois University to help set community goals. Dieterich has already done this and Teutopolis is currently working on it, as well. There will be five meetings on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. beginning on February 5. They are inviting public participation but would like people to please pre-register by contacting the Chamber of Commerce office (618)783-3399. Food and drinks will be provided. Two facilitators will coordinate the participants, goals will be ranked, then all presented at town-hall meetings. Chairperson for the day was Rotarian Andy Johnson (right).
