Round in Money Machine Used to Raise Awareness

Jason Meyer grabs cash to challenge his whole community
Newton, Illinois. (November 19, 2019) – When Jason Meyer, Jasper County Coroner, andvowner of Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, was selected to test his cash-grabbing skills
in the Peoples State Bank Cash Tank at the Jasper County Fall Festival, he had a bigger-picture idea in mind. Instead of keeping the funds for himself, he donated his winnings to Jasper County Cancer Support, Inc. Not only that, he went a step further, issuing a challenge to businesses and citizens in Jasper County to match the amount he collected, helping the non- profit organization raise funds for their friends and neighbors who have been diagnosed with
cancer.
“As someone with members of my own family going through the battle, I wanted to encourage everyone to give,” Meyer said. “I know things are tight for everyone – we should pull together and support our friends and family in our community.”
Through his appeal and a friendly competition among businesses, Jason Meyer transformed his chance in the Peoples State Bank Cash Tank into an opportunity to raise more than $1,820 for Jasper County Cancer Support, Inc.

While the organization understands that cancer survivors have follow-up appointments with their oncologists, the JCCS mission is to provide support to those who are currently undergoing active treatment.
Cancer patients and survivors are encouraged to attend monthly Jasper County Cancer Support meetings the second Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. at the Jasper County Health Department. Anyone interested in participating on the Board of Directors is welcome to attend
