Sarah Bush Lincoln held a ribbon cutting on Thursday, June 22. Greg Taylor, Vice President of Practice Management spoke during the ribbon cutting stating, “Community is important to Sarah Bush Lincoln. We partner with the local schools to provide Healthy Kids education to encourage better eating habits and increased activity; and provide Dental Services that include dental exams and restorative care to those kids who need cavities
filled and diseased teeth removed. We provide mammography services on our mobile mammography unit that visits countless locations throughout our 10-county service area including Newton.
Community is the key reason we wanted to build this new clinic. The folks here deserve the
best. We already have a wonderful staff and two great providers – Michele Kinder and Michelle
Fulton, who we refer to as ‘the two Michelles.’ ”
Michele Kinder spoke about the community being important to both women stating, “As Greg just mentioned, community is important. And this community is extra important to us. We grew up here and we love this town. Our kids go to school here, some have graduated from here. For us, this clinic is a safety net for our friends, family and neighbors”.
During the ceremony, Sarah Bush donated $1,000 to Master’s Hands (the local food bank), and the former building to the Jasper County Health Department with the following statement, ” While we were navigating the pandemic and trying to keep our community safe and healthy, we worked closely with the Jasper County Health Department. Deb Riddle and Jeannie Johnson, can you please come up here? You were there for us at every turn, helping us with collections and providing vaccinations. You are an incredibly valuable partner and asset for our entire
community. Thank you for your work. On behalf of Sarah Bush Lincoln, we would like to present to you the keys to our former clinic. (applause) For those who are not familiar with its location, it is adjacent to the health department. We are certain you will find a great use for it. Thank you.”
Greg spoke again about the demolition of the building and thanked those who helped building including:
“Utz and Associates. Colton Davis is with us tonight. And our general contractor K. Wohltman Construction. Doug Wohltman is here as well. As the pandemic was on the rise last winter, Colton, Doug and their crew were busy building this new facility. It is 5,000 square feet, with six exam rooms and a procedure room. The workflow is vastly improved. I think the staff will agree that this is a beautiful clinic. The clinic director is
Julie Kastl.”
Also shown in the ribbon cutting photo is Mayor Josh Kuhl.
