
Sharon Sue Cox, 78, passed away at 8:00 am on Sunday March 20, 2022, in the comfort of her
own home in Hidalgo, IL.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday March 27, 2022, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in
Greenup, IL. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 pm on Sunday at the funeral chapel. Burial will
be in the Greenup Cemetery.
Sharon was born on July 17, 1943, in Mattoon, IL, the daughter of William Ivan “Red” Glosser
and Francis (Fritts) Kerner. She married Stan Cox on October 8, 1983. She is survived by her
husband; sons, Bill (Cindy) Hutchison, and Roy Smith (Ronda); daughters, Trina (Brian)
Myerscough, Tonya (Joe) Green, Tracey Hutchison; grandchildren, Tara (Jason) McAllaster, Brad
Green, Tiffany (Chad) Phillips, Melissa (Josh) Sprecher, Tayleigh (Savannah) Ruiz-Nolan, Tearah
Stateler, Zachary Hutchison, Quinton Seeley (Kayla), Brayden Smith, Taylor Smith, Leah (Mack)
Waggoner, Logan Smith, and Rylan Smith; twenty-two great-grandchildren; brother James
Glosser; sisters, Patty (Tim) Yow, and Barb (Bill) Houser; a chosen daughter-in-law Marci Smith;
and many special nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her grandparents; her
parents; her brothers Charles Glosser, and Russell Glosser; her sisters, Marie Tinsman, and
Sandy Billingsley.
Sharon was the biggest cheerleader for her family and attended every sporting event she could
for her loved ones. She loved to travel even if it was just going for a drive to look at the changing
leaves in fall. She loved planting flowers and preparing for Spring. She enjoyed painting anything
that could use a fresh coat. She loved coloring, puzzles, and playing cards with family. She was
rarely without a fresh glass of unsweet tea.
Sharon was a retired homemaker who loved sharing her passion for a home cooked meal with
her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her legacy will live on through her famous
chicken noodles recipe passed down through every generation.
