Shirley D. Fritz, age 84, of Newton, Illinois, and formerly of Indiana, passed away at 10:00 AM – Sunday, July 17, 2022, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating Shirley’s life will be held at 1:00 PM – Friday, July 22, 2022, at the Mackey Church of the Nazarene in Mackey, Indiana. Burial will be in the Owensville Cemetery in Owensville, Indiana. Visitation will be held 1 hours before the service. In loving memory of Shirley, memorials may be made to the Mackey Church of the Nazarene. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Shirley was born on August 22, 1937, in Princeton, Indiana, the daughter of James and Hestaline (Robling) Foley. She married Bobby Joe Bernard in 1953, and he preceded her in death on April 5, 1979. She later married Donald Wayne Fritz and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2019.
Shirley retired from Hansen’s Manufacturing in Princeton, Indiana, after over 20 years of service. She was a member of Mackey Church of the Nazarene in Mackey, Indiana, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
Shirley enjoyed gardening and bird watching.

Grandson – Eric (Dawn) Overton of Newton, Illinois
Kasey Overton who passed in 2000
Great Grandchildren – Olivia and Amelia Overton
Step Grandchildren – Chris (Beth) Deters; Corey (Mandy) Deters; Ashley (Travis) Arnold; Hayle (Steve) Gray;
Step Great Grandchildren – Ava Deters, Chloe Deters, Jayce Deters, Janaya Deters, Harrison Arnold, Guy Arnold, Joey Arnold, Kree Gray and Willa Gray
Step Children – Gary (Debbie)Fritz, Mick (Carolyn)Fritz; Byron (Carol) Fritz; Barry Fritz; Jenny Jones;
Clint Fritz; Jacob Fritz and Lori Stephen

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, granddaughter Kasey Overton and brother Jim Foley.
