NCHS Lady Eagles Defeats Wesclin Varsity Warriors In Pitcher’s Duel

Both teams were strong in the circle on Tuesday, but NCHS Lady Eagles defeated Wesclin Varsity Warriors 3-1. Amelia Collins started the game for NCHS Lady Eagles and recorded 21 outs.

Wesclin Varsity Warriors opened the scoring in the second after Lexi Hooks laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run.

NCHS Lady Eagles captured the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the second after Lilly Kessler singled, and Audrie Reich hit into a fielder’s choice, each scoring one run.

Collins earned the win for NCHS Lady Eagles. The right-handed pitcher gave up five hits and one run (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out three and walking two. Erin Harpstrite took the loss for Wesclin Varsity Warriors. The starting pitcher went six innings, surrendering three runs (two earned) on four hits, striking out nine and walking two.

Lexie Grove went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead NCHS Lady Eagles in hits. Kessler, Grove, and Reich each drove in one run for NCHS Lady Eagles. NCHS Lady Eagles turned one double play in the game.

Hooks led Wesclin Varsity Warriors with one run batted in. Ava Spalding set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Wesclin Varsity Warriors with two hits in four at bats.

Pitching Impressive As NCHS Lady Eagles Beat Gillespie Varsity Gillespie High School Varsity

Both teams were strong in the circle on Saturday, but NCHS Lady Eagles defeated Gillespie Varsity Gillespie High School Varsity 3-2. Amelia Collins started the game for NCHS Lady Eagles and recorded 24 outs.

NCHS Lady Eagles didn’t take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at two in the top of the eighth when Avery Mulvey singled, scoring one run.

NCHS Lady Eagles got on the board in the first inning after Sally Mahaffey hit a solo home run to right field.

Emma Gipson doubled, which helped Gillespie Varsity Gillespie High School Varsity tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.

A single by Sadie Sholtis gave Gillespie Varsity Gillespie High School Varsity the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth.

Audrie Reich hit into a fielder’s choice, which helped NCHS Lady Eagles tie the game at two in the top of the seventh.

Collins earned the win for NCHS Lady Eagles. The starting pitcher surrendered six hits and two runs over eight innings, striking out one and walking three. Gipson took the loss for Gillespie Varsity Gillespie High School Varsity. The right-handed pitcher went eight innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on three hits, striking out seven and walking four.

Mulvey, Mahaffey, and Allie Stanley each collected one hit for NCHS Lady Eagles. Mahaffey went 1-for-3 at the plate as they led the team with one run batted in. NCHS Lady Eagles turned one double play in the game. NCHS Lady Eagles were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Lexie Grove had the most chances in the field with eight.

Sholtis and Gipson were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Gillespie Varsity Gillespie High School Varsity. Gipson led Gillespie Varsity Gillespie High School Varsity with two hits in four at-bats.
