Each week the Jasper County Daily News will be highlighting an employee from one of our gold sponsors. Without our sponsors, we would be unable to continue to provide local news and sports to the community.
This week, we would like to introduce you to Jessica Overton, Executive Director at the Villas of Holly Brook.
Tell us about you and your family, please.
I have two children, Talia (19) and Kobe (18). Talia attends EIU pursuing a degree in Special
Education. Kobe attends Eureka College pursuing a degree in Education and plays college
football. I have been married to Michael for 15 years. He is a mechanic and owns Nextcar Sales
& Service in Effingham. I grew up over in Marshall. I have two yorkies at home, Annie and
Chopper. They are a bit spoiled.
What do you do in your role? What are your areas of specialization?
I am the Executive Director of the building. I manage all aspects of the community.
How long have you worked for/managed the company? When did you start in the industry?
I have been in my role with the Villas of Holly Brook since 2019. I have always had a passion for
the medical field. My mother always worked in long term care as the business office manager.
She used to take me to work with her when I was younger. She was working over here and
Newton and called me one day and told me that the Villas was looking for a director. I hoped
right on indeed and applied!
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
I absolutely love every aspect of my job. I love being able to spend one on one time with
residents, plan fun activities and also spending time with my staff. I love the team we have built
here.
What is your educational/training background? Include qualifications and institutions,
professional certifications and awards received.
I have a bachelor’s degree in business management with a concentration in human resources.
What are your interests and hobbies outside of work (sport, family, community activities,
volunteering, etc)?
Outside of work I stay very busy with the kids, dogs and husband. We like to go out on the boat,
ride motorcycles, and watch football.
