Stanley Ray Whitehurst, age 65, of Newton passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 12,
2024.
Funeral services celebrating Stanley’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the
Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Keith Kepley officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until
time of services Saturday, March 16th in the funeral home.
Stanley was born on October 22, 1958, in Effingham, Illinois the son of Homer James and Edna Lucille
(Shull) Whitehurst. Stanley married Linda Beaulieu and to this union two children were born, Lindsay
and Levi. On May 27, 2006, Stanley married Judith Ann Kerner. She preceded him in death on October
20, 2022. Stanley spent his life as a carpenter.
Stanley was a lifelong member of the Fairview Christian Church. In his free time, he loved gardening,
cooking and grilling. He enjoyed camping and spending time around the camp fire with his family and
friends. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan, second only to his brother Neil. Following the passing of
Judy, Stanley got a boxer puppy. Apollo brought great joy and contentment to Stanley’s life.
Stanley will be loved and remembered by his children Lindsay (Dan) Jayne of Newton and Levi
Whitehurst of Newton; three grandchildren Mikayla Stone, Gavin Stone and Lillyan Stone all of Newton;
great grandchild Payton Gibson and another great grandchild to be welcomed in May; brother Daniel
Whitehurst of St. Louis; sister Connie (Rahel) Wagy of Newton; sister-in-law Debbie Whitehurst of
Wheeler; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, wife Judy and brother Neil Whitehurst preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
