
Following is a summary of minutes of a regular meeting of the Board of Education of Jasper County Community Unit School District No. 1 held in the Board of Education offices, Monday, February 17, 2020. Board members present were Mr. Gordon Millsap, Mr. Jon Fulton, Mrs. Mandy Rieman, Mrs. Mindy Street, Mr Bill Meinhart, Mr. Jason Kuhl and Mrs. Holly Farley. Members absent: None.
All votes are considered unanimous unless otherwise noted.
Gordon Millsap called the meeting to order.
The agenda was adopted as presented.
Brett Lessley with Peoples State Bank presented the 9 Illinois State Scholars with a 2020 Silver Eagle Coin. State Scholars are Denae Cantrell, Emily Dion, Connie Hemrich, Drew Kibler, Kyle Schafer, Abby Stone, Jacqueline Street, Seth Weber and Justin Zumbahlen.
There will be a special board meeting at the board office on Monday, February 24 at 5pm for goal setting.
Donations from Athletic Booster Club with many thanks to:
$1,000 to all spring sports: Baseball, Softball, Boys Tennis, Boys Track, Girls Track and Bass Fishing at NCHS,
$540 for replacement net on baseball portable hitting cage and
$525 each to girls track and softball for workouts/instruction at Newton Elite Fitness.
Ashley Bergbower and Alexandra Niebrugge Boggs were hired to be teachers at Newton Elementary starting 2020-2021 school year.
Approval of a one year maternity leave of absence for Kelsey Millsap, kindergarten teacher at Ste. Marie Elementary for the 2020-2021 school year and will return 2021-2022 school year.
The board went into executive session at 6:59pm for 5 ILCS 120/2 ( c) (1) – To consider information regarding appointment, employment or dismissal of individual employees, 5 ILCS 120 /2 ( c ) (5) Purchase or lease of real property.
Approval to return to open session at 7:46pm.
Meeting adjourned at 7:46pm.
Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2020 at 6:30 pm at the Board Office.
