Teresa Elizabeth Hartrich, age 74, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 1:32 AM – Friday, September 17, 2021, at her home.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic
Church in Newton, Illinois with Fr. Dean Probst celebrating Mass. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Ste.
Marie, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM – Monday, September 20, 2021, at the church and from 9:30-10:00
AM – Tuesday, September 21, 2021. In loving memory of Teresa, memorials may be made to St. Thomas Catholic School or
Ste. Marie Foundation. Arrangements are in the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. The obituary can be

Teresa Elizabeth was born on June 18, 1947, in Olney, Illinois the daughter of Herman and Estella (Hare) Zuber. She attended school
in Olney, Illinois, and graduated from Olney High School in 1965. She went on to further her education obtaining her Bachelor
degree from Eastern Illinois University in Special Educations. Teresa was a teacher that loved her students, her motto was “once mine
always mine”. She taught special education for 34 years, touching many lives.
Teresa was united in marriage to the love of her life and best friend Michael Hartrich on June 4, 1968, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in
Olney, Illinois. She and Mike were blessed with two children Michele Lynn and Matthew Scott.
Teresa’s life was one of service, and giving of herself. She was a loving mother and could be seen at all the events that her children
and grandchildren were involved in. She was the team mother to the cross country and basketball team, cheering all the kids on as if
they were hers.
Teresa was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois, the St. Thomas Angels in Our Midst, P.E.O.
Sisterhood (the local Chapter FN), Jasper County Home Extension, 4-H leader, PSR Teacher, Special Olympics Coach, and willing to
lend a hand anytime it was needed.
Teresa enjoyed dressing as a white face clown to create smiles to others. In her spare time, she enjoyed cross stitching, scrapbooking
and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Teresa is survived by Husband of 53 Years – Mike Hartrich of Newton, Illinois
Daughter – Michele (husband Dusty) of Newton, Illinois
Daughter-in-law – Joyce Marie Hartrich of Newton, Illinois
Grandchildren – Kaleb Michael Wright, Aiden Noah Wright, Elise Rae Wright, Megan Ella Hartrich and
John Matthew Hartrich
Mother – Estella Zuber of Olney, Illinois
Siblings- Marti Zuber, Peggy Miller, Becky (Jim) Howard, Herman (Susan) Zuber and Mary (Monte) VanOver
Mother-in-law- Lucie Hartrich

Teresa was preceded in death by her father, son Matthew Scott Hartrich and father-in-law Harold Hartrich.
