The Equity Announces 2026 “Earn and Learn” Scholarship Newton Recipients: Kody Bergbower and Turner Tarr

The Equity is proud to announce the 2026 recipients of its Earn and Learn with The Equity scholarship program, continuing its commitment to investing in the next generation of agricultural and technical professionals.

Each year, the scholarship is made available to high school seniors as well as current students enrolled in community colleges, universities, and trade schools. Eligible fields of study include Marketing, Business, Accounting, Agriculture, Precision Ag, Automotive, Diesel Technology, and related programs.

For 2026, nine students have been selected to receive this prestigious scholarship:

  • Kody Bergbower, a senior at Newton Community High School, plans to major in Ag Business and Supply at Lake Land College in fall 2026.
  • Justin Boerngen, a senior at Dieterich High School, plans to major in Ag Business and Supply at Lake Land College in fall 2026.
  • Brayden Elam, a senior at Altamont High School, plans to major in Ag Business and Supply at Lake Land College in fall 2026.
  • Alex Gordon, a senior at Effingham High School, plans to major in Agriculture at Lake Land College in fall 2026.
  • Danika Jansen, a senior at Dieterich High School, plans to major in Ag Business and Supply at Lake Land College in fall 2026.
  • Samuel Rains, a Robinson High School graduate, currently attends Lake Land College and is majoring in Agronomy.
  • Turner Tarr, a senior at Newton Community High School, plans to major in Ag Business and Supply at Lake Land College in fall 2026.
  • Madison Tonn, an Altamont High School graduate, currently attends Lake Land College and is majoring in Ag Business and Supply.
  • Tristan Wright, a senior at Sullivan High School, plans to major in Ag Business and Supply at Lake Land College in fall 2026.

The Earn and Learn with The Equity scholarship offers more than financial support. Recipients gain valuable hands-on experience through paid internships with The Equity throughout their college careers. Upon graduation, students are also provided with the opportunity to transition into full-time roles within The Equity’s Agronomy division.

Through programs like Earn and Learn, The Equity continues to strengthen the future of agriculture by supporting students who are passionate about the industry and eager to build meaningful careers close to home.
