From Porkburgers to Lemon Shake-Ups: Why Ste. Marie’s July 3 Celebration Feels Like Home
There’s something about a small-town celebration that you just can’t recreate anywhere else—and on Friday, July 3, Ste. Marie will be filled with the sights, sounds, and flavors that define summer in Jasper County.
The America 250: A Jasper County Celebration, held at Saint Mary’s Church Grounds and Picquet Park, isn’t just about a schedule of events—it’s about the experience.
It’s the smell of grilled porkburgers drifting through the air as the Newton FFA serves up a hometown favorite from 3 to 8 p.m.
It’s the familiar line forming for the Newton Knights of Columbus chicken dinners, where the food is as much about tradition as it is taste.
It’s kids running between games and bingo tables while neighbors catch up under shaded tents.
And then, of course, there are the classics.
Lemon shake-ups—cold, sweet, and just tart enough—have become a staple of summer events, and they’ll be flowing alongside a variety of food vendors offering something for everyone.
Music will carry through the evening, starting with Tim Crosby & Oil Chip Road Band from 3 to 5:45 p.m., followed by the National Anthem at 5:45 p.m. performed by Brittany Keller—a moment that will bring the entire crowd together.
From there, the night rolls on with the Little Soco Band from 5:45 to 8:30 p.m., filling the park with energy as families settle in for the evening.
Meanwhile, the Classic Car & Antique Tractor Cruise-In (2–7 p.m.) will give attendees a chance to take a step back in time, with polished chrome, restored tractors, and stories shared between generations.
For those looking to relax, the beer garden offers a place to unwind, while others gather for bingo and games running from 3 to 8:30 p.m.—a reminder that sometimes the simplest entertainment is still the best.
As the evening winds down with a closing program from 8:30 to 8:45 p.m., anticipation builds for the final highlight.
At 9 p.m., fireworks will light up the sky over Ste. Marie—a moment that brings everything together. Families gathered on blankets, kids looking up in awe, and a community sharing one unforgettable night.
Because in Ste. Marie, it’s never just about the event.
It’s about the feeling you take home with you.
