The Opportunists, racers from Race Across America, stopped briefly in Jasper County at Newton Community High School to meet up with an old friend of theirs, Jim Riddle. Officer Riddle pulled over the group last year as they passed through Jasper County in the middle of the night for failure to dim their bright lights. While completing the stop, Officer Riddle offered to pray with the team and donated to their cause.
During their stop in Jasper County, the group went live to send a video to those following along on their journey, including the students at Opportunity Inc. Early Childhood Education and Family Center in West Palm Beach Florida which is the nonprofit organization they raise money for. The children at the center ride their tricycles, striders and bicycles along while watching the live feeds from the team and learning about the different areas of the country. You can see their 2019 stop in Jasper County below.
Again, before they left Officer Riddle stopped to pray with the group. The Opportunists is a four-man team in the Race Across America. Their mission is: “Empowering the children of working families to achieve academic and life success through educational programs that embrace the whole child and through family programming.”
