The Orell Farley Foundation Grantees Named
Recipients accept awards from the recently created foundation
Newton (Aug. 23, 2019) –On August 23, 2019, The Orell Farley Foundation awarded its inaugural grants to eight organizations from Jasper County, Illinois. During the awards presentation, held at The Peoples State Bank located in Newton, Illinois, a total of $10,000 was given to the various organizations chosen to receive funding for their projects. Grant recipients were as follows:

1. Jasper County CUSD#1 Newton Elementary $1000 T-shirts & curriculum materials Strong Girls & B.O.Y.S Programs
2. Jasper County Youth Soccer $2000 Funding towards goals for U12 field
3. Embarras River Tourism Council $1000 Flower pot saucers

4. Jasper County Cancer Support, Inc $1000 Gas/grocery gift cards
5. Blessings in a Backpack $1000 Groceries for food bags
6. City of Newton – Newton Eagle Trails System $1000 Funding towards completion of Phase IV of the Riverwalk Trail
7. Jasper County Agricultural Association $1000 Funding towards replacement of current show ring livestock building on the Jasper County Fairgrounds
8. St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School $2000 Funding towards Chromebooks for use by students
The Orell Farley Foundation, initially funded in 2018, benefits qualified organizations in Jasper County, Illinois that sponsor projects and activities that enhance the public health, safety, recreation and education for the use and enjoyment of the general public within the county. To be considered, an organization must be either a tax-supported governmental unit or entity, or must be a tax-exempt organization under Internal Revenue Code Section 201 (c)(3) and must be located in Jasper County.

Grant applications for the annual awards of The Orell Farley Foundation may be obtained from the Trust Department of The Peoples State Bank located at 100 West Washington Street in Newton, Illinois. The deadline for submission of applications is July 31 each year. An advisory board reviews the applications and determines the awards given each year.
