Thomas David Carroll, age 68, of Paris, passed away at 8:48 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2021 in Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home in Paris, Illinois. The family will not be present. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Paris, Illinois with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Paris, Illinois.
Tom was born July 20, 1953 in Paris, Illinois the son of the late James Thomas and Barbara Jane Reynolds Carroll.
He married Judy Jean Goebel on September 28, 1974 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wheeler, Illinois. She survives.
Tom was a third generation funeral director and owner of Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home in Paris, Illinois where he served the families of his community for 46 years. He got his start at the Zieren Funeral Home on Court St. in Paris. Tom was a long time and active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Paris. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Paris, St. Mary’s Cemetery Board, Illinois Funeral Directors Association, and the National Funeral Directors Association. Tom was also a licensed insurance agent for Forethought and Global Atlantic Life insurance companies.
He is survived by his wife: Judy Carroll of Paris, Illinois; his children: Ryan (Megan) Carroll of Paris, Lindsay (Jacob) Englum of Paris; his grandchildren: Harlee (Jacob Gates), Landen, McKenzie, and Gage Englum, Olivia, Maxwell, and Nolan Carroll; his uncle: William (Jone) Zieren of Charleston, Illinois; several cousins; several brothers in law and sisters in law; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
Tom is preceded in death by two infant twin sons: Matthew James Carroll, Justin Thomas Carroll; an infant grandson.
In keeping with State of Illinois mandates due to COVID-19 Pandemic, everyone attending the service is encouraged to wear a mask while inside the funeral home and the church.
