Newton Lady Eagles Advance to Regional Championship

The Newton Lady Eagles battled their way to a thrilling straight-set victory over Hamilton County on Monday night, winning 30-28 and 25-23 to improve their record to 21-15 on the season.

The match was a nail-biter from start to finish, with both sets showcasing intense rallies and strong defense from both sides. Newton held their composure in the key moments, pulling through with clutch plays to secure the win and move on to the Regional Championship.

Leading the offense, Hydi Bierman powered the attack with 12 kills and 2 aces, while Allie Hermann added 9 kills and a team-high 19 digs. Stella Schackmann and Joslynn Pitcher each contributed 3 kills, with Claire Probst and Amy Shull adding one apiece.

At the net, Pitcher led with 2 blocks, while Bierman, Meinhart, Hermann, and Probst each tallied one. Setting duties were shared between Shull, who dished out 16 assists, and Paige Wagner, who added 9.

Defensively, Morgan Schafer anchored the back row with 11 digs, followed by solid efforts from Bierman (8), Wagner (4), Meinhart (4), Probst (4), Shull (4), and Pitcher (3).

The Lady Eagles advance to the Regional Championship on Wednesday, October 30, where they will face Carmi at McLeansboro. Match time is set for 6:30 p.m. as Newton looks to claim the regional crown.
