The Newton Eagles turned in a strong performance at the Newton Eagle Invite, finishing 3rd overall as a team with 76 points in a competitive field.
It was a big night on and off the track. The team opened the meet by singing the National Anthem, the 2006 State Championship team was recognized for their historic run, and this year’s seniors were honored for their dedication to the program.
On the track, Henry Will led the way with a 1st place finish in the 400 meters (52.58 PB) and also helped power the 4×400 relay team to another 1st place finish (3:29.20) alongside Matthew Haskett, Tanner Whitaker, and Parker Harris.
The Eagles also saw a runner-up finish in the 4×200 relay (1:35.03) with Brock Anderson, Haskett, Brayan Ramos, and Eli Wolf.
In field events, Wolf grabbed a 2nd place finish in the long jump (5.68m), while Evan Holder placed 3rd in pole vault (3.66m).
Additional top finishes included:
• Borgic – 3rd in 300 hurdles (42.04)
• 4×100 relay – 3rd place (45.33)
• 4×800 relay – 3rd place (8:42.13)
• Parker Harris – 6th in high jump
• Owen Ulm – 8th in shot put
Newton also saw multiple personal bests across the board, including Brock Anderson in the 100, Hayden Mulvey in the 200, and several distance runners continuing to drop time.
A great night for the Eagles honoring the past, celebrating the present, and building momentum heading into the postseason.
