Bettie Jean Winn, age 90 from Newton, Illinois and formerly from Anna, IL passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10th at 1:44 pm, at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, Illinois.
Bettie was born October 4th, 1935 in Pulaski, Illinois.
Bettie married the love of her life Joel Winn on June 29th ,1958 in Hernando, Missouri. They enjoyed 55 years together. They built a loving family and raised two children: Joey (Karen) Winn, Michelle (Rick) Wolfe.
Bettie was a stay-at-home mom for many years before working at ER Moore & later Newton Broom Co.
Bettie was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Joel, Mother Lucinda Robertson & her Father Claude Robertson. Also, preceded in death by her sister Kathy Allen.
She leaves behind her two children, her sister Brenda Fredericks, 6 cherished grandchildren Justin (Lita) Winn, Jason Winn, Jared Winn, Creighton (Teresa) Wolfe, Brogan (Kelsey) Wolfe, Ashtyn Wolfe. 9 great grandchildren & many nieces & nephews & cousins.
Bettie enjoyed her yearly vacations to the beach. She loved watching the water & looking at the clouds. She loved spending time with family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin & friend. Her warmth, infectious humor & her generous spirit will be missed.
Graveside side services to honor and celebrate Bettie’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Rick Britton officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time Wednesday in the cemetery. Crain Funeral Home, Newton is assisting with the arrangements.
