Brent was born on August 17, 1971, in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Rindell K. and Shirley S. (Potter) Wilson. He was a graduate of Newton Community High School, Class of 1989. Following in his dad’s footsteps of truck driving, Brent was the owner/operator of Wilson Trucking for many years. He transitioned from truck driving to Hershey Chocolate in Robinson, where he worked as a supply clerk.
Brent was a dedicated husband and father. Having been a boy scout as a young man, he served as Destin’s boy scout leader, Troop #156, for many years.
In his free time, Brent could be found outdoors. He loved deer and turkey hunting. He enjoyed fishing back at his grandpa’s pond, but walleye fishing in Canada was a favorite. Brent and the family were blessed to make one more Canada trip in the last few weeks. There, they visited their favorite fishing spots and stayed in the camp that was a favorite of Brent’s grandparents.
Brent enjoyed attending truck shows and collecting die cast trucks. Loving to “piddle” as Tammy describes it, Brent could often be found out working on his Chevy show truck, playing with his dog Wrigley or working tirelessly to get his grandpa’s old Dodge running. A task he proudly accomplished.
Brent will be loved and forever remembered by his wife Tammy Wilson of Newton; son, Destin Wilson of Vincennes, IN and daughter, Caelan Wilson of Newton; mother, Shirley A. Wilson of Newton; sister, Rhonda (Jeremy) Wilson of Newton; mother-in-law, Mae Stevenson of Danville, IL; sisters-in-law, Terry (Dave) Harby of Catlin, IL, Toni (Dave) Stone of Catlin, IL, Tina (Con) Bateman of Danville, IL; nieces and nephews, Jaxson Wilson, Kylie (Nick) Bialeschki, Stevenson (Carly) Harby, Andrew (Courtney) Harby, Lauren (Bennie) Dougherty, Jordan (Emily) Stone, Rachel (Cameron) Dillion, Michael Bateman, Katie Bateman, Bridgit Bateman and Conley Bateman; 12 great nieces and nephews; and several aunts and uncles.
