Newton Marching Eagles Earn Third Place in Class 5A

The Newton Marching Eagles continued their 2026 competition season with a strong showing in Class 5A, earning third place overall.

This year’s production, “Redemption,” explores the idea of redemption as regaining what has been lost, breaking free from bondage and making amends. The production incorporates How Great Thou Art, the Doxology (Old One Hundredth), Franz Biebl’s Ave Maria and Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral.

At the competition, the Marching Eagles earned Outstanding Auxiliary, finishing third overall in the auxiliary caption among all 10 classes and 26 bands competing.

Newton also earned second place in Music and second place in Percussion. The percussion section’s second-place finish in Class 5A placed the group fifth overall among all 26 bands.

The combined results earned the Newton Marching Eagles a third-place overall finish in Class 5A.

The performance reflects the work of the band’s musicians, percussionists and auxiliary members as they continue bringing the 2026 production, “Redemption,” to the competition field.
