Newton Lady Eagles Finish 7th in Challenging 16 Team Competition
#1 Singles – Jacelyn Street finished 3rd by defeating Jackeline Garcia of Morton 6-0,6-0. Next she defeated Jenna Dose of Bloomington Central Catholic before facing the tournament’s number one seed and being defeated by Emma Baker of Chicago Lab School 1-6,0-6. In the contest for third place, Street defeated Diana Mossman of Tuetopolis 6-2,6-3.
#2 Singles – Jessilyn Hall won her first against Peyton Sehy of St Anthony 6-3,6-4. Next round, Hall was defeated by Jackie Pfeifer of Morton 0-6,1-6. In the consolation bracket, Hall resettlement Hackett of Charleston 7-5,6-3. Her final match of the day was against Carley Having of Teutopolis when she was defeated 0-6,1-6.
#3 Singles – Kierstin Clark won her first match against Cassidy Stanfield of Effingham 6-3,6-2. Next round Clark was defeated by Destanee Liston of Robinson 0-6,0-6. Her final match was a close loss to Anna Brummer of MT. Zion 6-1,4-6,6-10.
#1 Doubles – Claire Griffith/Allisonreestablished 5th place by defeating Grace Hoffmire/Nolly Niemerg of Teutopolis 6-2,7-5. Next round they were defeated by Ali Brumleve/Macy Probst of Teutopolis 0-6,2-6. In the consolation bracket Newton Griffith/Harris defeated Layla Gill/Hannah Hicks from Shelbyville 6-2,7-5 and finally Caroline Kull/Riley Arend of Effingham.
#2 Doubles Mady Emmerich/Lindsey McClain defeated Lauren Richards/Emma Schmahl of MFH_LSA 6-1,6-3. Next they were defeated by Victoria Leman/Lucy Gardner of Morton in an extremely close match in a tie-break 6-4,6-7(5-7),10-12. In the Consolation round EmmerichmCClain were defeated by Lydia Kull /Deen Wendling of Effingham 0-6,6-7(4-7).
