Newton Varsity Eagles scored on a walk by Isaac Flowers in the first inning, a single by Ben Meinhart in the second inning, and a single by Carder Reich in the second inning.
Newton Varsity Eagles scored three runs in the fourth inning. Newton Varsity Eagles’s big inning was driven by a single by Mason Mulvey and an error on a ball put in play by Flowers.
Dylan Gier led the Newton Varsity Eagles to victory on the mound. The righthander went six innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and striking out five. Brandon Einhorn threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Dalton Myers took the loss for Brownstown Bombers Varsity. The bulldog allowed 15 hits and nine runs over six innings, striking out four.
Newton Varsity Eagles totaled 15 hits in the game. Meinhart, Mulvey, Reich, Owen Mahaffey, and Daniel Spiker each racked up multiple hits for Newton Varsity Eagles. Meinhart led Newton Varsity Eagles with three hits in three at bats.
Brownstown Bombers Varsity collected eight hits. Myers and Adam Atwood all managed multiple hits for Brownstown Bombers Varsity.
