Lucie M. Hartrich, age 97

Lucie M. Hartrich, age 97, of Sainte Marie, Illinois, passed away at 4:30 PM on Saturday, August, 6, 2022, at the Arbor Rose in Robinson, Illinois.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM – Saturday, August 13, 2022, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Sainte Marie, Illinois. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Sainte Marie, Illinois. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, August 12, 2022 at the church and 9:30 – 10:30 AM on Saturday, prior to the mass in the St. Mary’s Parish Center. In loving memory of Lucie, memorials may be made to the Sainte Marie Foundation Mary’s Church. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Lucie was born on January 21, 1925, in Robinson Illinois, the youngest of 5 children, to Ellen (Bolander) Hunzinger and Arthur Hunzinger.
Her family moved to Ste. Marie when she was a young girl and she lived in Ste. Marie until she moved to assisted living in 2014. She graduated from two high schools, Sainte Marie in 1942, and Newton High School in 1944. She married Harold Hartrich on May 15, 1946, and he preceded her in death in February 17, 1984. They were blessed with 4 children: Mike, Mark, Tony and Amy. Lucie and Harold cofounded Hartrich Meats in 1953.
Lucie was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Assumption parish in Ste. Marie.
Lucie was a charter member of the Ste. Marie American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling the world, having been to Alaska, Hawaii, Austria, China, Ireland and Switzerland. She was an avid quilter, helping with many quilts for the St. Mary’s church picnic and making many quilts for her family. She loved to dance, faithfully attending Monday night dances for many years. She enjoyed water aerobics too, taking classes for several years at Lincoln Trail College.
She is survived by her children: Mike Hartrich of Newton Illinois; Mark (Janeth) Hartrich of Newton Illinois; Tony (Janet) Hartrich of Ste.Marie Illinois and Amy (Darren) Frohning of Ste. Marie Illinois
Grandchildren: Michele (Dusty) Wright, Joyce Hartrich, Kristie (Chad) Cunningham, Brian Hartrich, Craig (Amy) Hartrich, Kate (James) Lurkins, Dan (Beth) Hartrich, Becca (Phil) Ochs, Grace Hartrich, Alex (Karly) Frohning, Kyle Frohning (Suzanne Dwyer), Abigail Frohning (Zach Jansen)
Great Grandchildren: Kaleb, Noah, and Elise Wright; Megan and John Hartrich; Reid and Cecelia Cunningham; Will and Emma Hartrich; Kaylee, Nate, and Spencer Lurkins; Charlee, Alivia, and Sophia Hartrich; Ellie, Max, and Greta Ochs; and Baby Frohning expected in October
Lucie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter-in-law Teresa Hartrich, grandson Scott Hartrich, granddaughter Emily Hartrich, brothers Richard, Harry, and Paul Hunzinger, and sister Julia “Judy” Walker.
