Jasper County Community Unit #1, Board of Education Meeting
Report October 16, 2023
Superintendent’s Report:
- The district is aware of an incident that occured on a Jasper County School Bus last week. Jasper County School Administrators will continue to look into the incident to improve bus safety throughout the district.
- Strategic Objective #3: The JCCU1 School District strives to provide a positive and engaging academic atmosphere in which all students are challenged to achieve academic growth.
- The board heard a report on fall benchmark testing data throughout the district.
- The district continues to focus on subgroup pockets that affect desired test results on statewide assessments.
New Business
- Approved Mandy Rieman as the IASB Delegate for the Joint Annual Conference
- Approved real estate purchase agreement for 907 Washington Street, Newton, Illinois
- Approved to seek bids for a NCHS Greenhouse
- Approved a special board committee for building and grounds.
- Members appointed Bill Meinhart and Brady Shull
Action out of Executive Session
- Approve to keep closed session minutes closed from January 1, 2019 – June 30, 2019.
Hires
- Approved the hire of Rob Overman as a Full Time School Bus Driver/Half time School
Maintenance Worker.
- Approved the hire of Bethany Orsburn a District Paraprofessional
Leave of Absence
- Mary Jo Walk was granted a leave of absence.
