What made you decide this school was the best fit for you?
I knew that I had to find a program that would allow me to balance softball with a challenging major. On my visit, I learned about their strong academic support system for student-athletes as well as the competitive level of softball I wanted. My interactions with the coaches and current players were easy and supportive. I felt like I would fit right in.
How do you feel NCHS has prepared you for this next step in life?
I’ve been surrounded by supportive adults who have challenged me to be my best in everything I do. This helped me know what I wanted my college experience to be like and prepared me for the hard work ahead.
What are at least two life lessons you have learned from sports?
- The biggest lesson has been in time management. Preparing to play at the college level takes a lot of work and sacrifice. I also needed to be a strong student. Balancing the demands of my sport, school, and family life since a younger age has helped me set goals and learn how to make things happen.
- Another important lesson is to appreciate the little things in life. I am forever grateful for the people I have met and played with and all the places I have traveled to. Those experiences have shaped who I am today as a player and person, teaching me about humility, teamwork, and grit.
How have your coaches helped you prepare you to play at a collegiate level?
My coaches have pushed me to be the best version of myself each time I compete. They have taught me to be resilient and persevere through adversity.
What will you miss most next year not being at NCHS?
I will miss the opportunity to play with my friends, some of whom I have played softball with for several years. I am lucky to have good friends to spend time with on and off the field.
