Eagles Beat Knights 12-1

The Eagles soared to an impressive 12-1 victory over the Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Varsity Knights on Monday, dominating the game from start to finish.

The Eagles wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning. Their early momentum was sparked by a dropped third strike and an error by the Knights, allowing two runs to cross the plate.

The second inning saw an offensive explosion from NCHS, as they tallied six runs on just three hits. Camryn Martin ignited the rally with a two-run single, followed by another costly error that plated two more runs. Audrie Reich chipped in with an RBI groundout, and Allie Hermann capped off the inning with an RBI double, solidifying the Eagles’ commanding lead.

Not letting up, NCHS extended their lead in the third inning with three more runs. Sally Mahaffey, Reich, and Hermann each delivered RBI singles to keep the pressure on the Knights.

On the mound, Amelia Collins delivered a stellar performance for the Eagles. She allowed just one run on five hits across four innings while striking out seven and issuing no walks. Karly Deckard provided solid relief, pitching one inning of scoreless ball, surrendering just two hits and striking out one.

The Eagles’ offense was well-balanced, with Hermann, Martin, Mahaffey, and Reich each driving in two runs. Their patience at the plate was evident, drawing five walks throughout the game. Bailee Frichtl and Addyson O’Dell led the team in discipline, collecting two walks apiece.

NCHS also flexed their speed, aggressively running the bases and racking up 15 stolen bases. Martin and O’Dell each contributed multiple steals. The team’s defensive play was equally sharp, as they completed the game without committing a single error. Alisson Stanley anchored the defense with an impressive nine plays.

Despite the loss, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Varsity Knights saw strong performances from Mackenzie Condill and Sophie Monts, who combined for four of the team’s hits. Monts went 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in the Knights’ lone run.
